Cross Eyed Missions is a non-profit charity that was established in July 2000. It was created as a direct result of Dr. Braden Kail's (Shepherd of the Valley Evangelical Lutheran Church Member) first eye care mission trip.
Upon returning from Honduras in early 2000, he was left with a feeling that there was so much more to be done. After much prayerful consideration, Cross Eyed Missions was created.
Over the next year, quite a bit of time was spent laying the groundwork for the organization. The biggest bureaucratic hurdle was crossed on July 23, 2001, when it was learned that Cross Eyed Missions would be recognized by the IRS as a charity. This IRS decision will allow Cross Eyed Missions to potentially seek funding for future mission trips, equipment, and glasses. A board of directors and officers has also been elected to guide and direct Cross Eyed Missions as of August 2001. |
