Cross Eyed Missions

The idea of Cross Eyed Missions began in late 1999. Dr. Braden Kail of Waynesburg, Ohio, was inspired by a local pastor, Dale Boston, to attempt an eye care mission trip. The first trip (Honduras) occurred in early 2000 with great success. When he returned from Honduras Dr. Kail felt that there was more to be done in third world countries as far as eye care was concerned. This passion led to the formation of a not for profit charity called Cross Eyed Missions. This formation did not occur overnight. Much prayer and hard work preceded the actual corporation. Many hands helped mold Cross Eyed Missions into a thriving organization.

The support of our local community began to mushroom. Local churches, Lions Clubs and many individuals became interested in supporting and helping with Cross Eyed Missions. Dr. Kail had many opportunities to share his testimony and the workings of CEM with many groups. Our missions to date have included trips to Honduras in 2000, 2001 and 2004 with over 1,700 people seen; Haiti in 2002 with over 1,100 people seen; Peru in 2004 with over 700 people seen; and Bolivia in 2003 and 2005 with over 3,000 people seen. We have also served in Arizona in 2003 and 2004, seeing over 400 people.

The board of Cross Eyed Missions continues to strive to serve no matter where in the world that may take them. We truly have a vision to serve those in need. We feel God has richly blessed us with talents and abilities and it is our calling to share those talents with those less fortunate around the world.
